Board of Trustees

I’ve worked for 20 years in the aircraft and tractor industries, becoming    a union official and later addressing mass unemployment issues for the  TUC. I have worked in the voluntary sector for nearly 30 years, including Care and Repair, Re’new Leeds, and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.      I currently serve on the committee of the Social Housing Pension Scheme, as well as doing volunteer work with the Library. Previously I was the  Chair of Connect Housing in Leeds.

I was born in Leeds and have lived most of my adult life here, studying at Leeds and Huddersfield Universities. I have worked for over 35 years in Human Resources. Currently, I work as Director of People for a company whose mission is to make learning accessible to all online. I spent almost 14 years at Anchor, England’s largest, not for profit, housing provider for older people. It’s here I grew a passion for the type of work that BEA and OWLS are doing and a personal interest in the well-being of older people. 

worked in the NHS for 9 years and then as a Human Resources Manager   at the University of Leeds for over 30 years, retiring in 2017. Since then I have volunteered with local cultural partners including Leeds International Piano Competition and the Leeds Literary Festival. I love to travel and have recently been learning Spanish. I was co-opted to BEA’s People Committee and I am now ready to contribute as a Trustee.

I was born in Harehills in the 60s I spent the first 20 years of my working life in Financial Services at the large Burtons site in Harehills. I went on to work for several other Financial Services companies in senior management roles before retiring in 2020. I volunteer for a couple of other charities and I am on the board of my golf club. I am looking forward to helping continue to develop the charity to continue to deliver for our members.

I was born and raised in Bramley, attending schoools in the area. I originally joined Bramley Elderly Action as a volunteer after I retired, taking on the role of a telephone befriender. I then became a trustee a year later, being committed to making a difference within our community.

I returned to Headingley in 2019, having studied at the City of Leeds and Carnegie College of Education (now Leeds Beckett University) in the 1970s. I was a former teacher of high school students with additional needs, specialising in art, music and drama. I have experience as an in-person and telephone befriender in Bradford and with OWLS.

I was Born in Sunderland and came to Leeds to study. On graduating as a Town Planner, I gained employment with Leeds City Council, and ultimately enjoyed spending my entire professional career in my favourite city. I was responsible for building schools, homes, leisure, and recycling facilities, and procuring all the goods and services required by the Council. I am passionate in the aims of BEA to deliver the best outcomes for our communities.
